FilmEU trainings in November

Work Package 5 – People is organising a series of online professional skills training sessions in November, which will give teachers, academics and staff from all of the FilmEU partner institutions the chance to improve their skills, look at new methods of teaching and learning, and share knowledge between different disciplines.

The programme is delivered by experts from the partner institutions of FilmEU and from other associated academic partners and covers a wide variety of subjects, including inclusive and safer academic environments, artificial intelligence in education, digital storytelling, creative entrepreneurship and media literacy.

The training sessions will start on 17 November with a session entitled Respectful and Safer Academia – Objectives, Tools and Obstacles, which will be given by Magdaléna Musilová (VSMU), and will then be followed by EdCase Canvas, a presentation by Nikolaj Sloth Kramer (VIA) that looks at how technology can be incorporated into teaching and learning activities.

On 18 November, participants will be able to take part in AI Rocket, a programme also led by Nikolaj Sloth Kramer, which introduces a foundational framework for teaching with AI. The programme will also look at the financial support available to creative entrepreneurs through Financing & Support for Creative Start-Ups, a session given by Dr. Diana Andreeva-Popyordanova (NATFA), and will examine changes in audiovisual formats as discussed in Are We Teaching for the Wrong Screen? The Rise of Vertical Storytelling, a talk by Oskar Fisker (VIA).

The programme also includes two sessions on media literacy and cultural identity, which are given by researchers from Sumy State University: Maryna Sadivnycha and Nataliia Ponomarenko presenting The Concept of Media Trauma Literacy: Developing a Theory of Social Impact and Information Resilience, and Vitalii Stepanov delivering Evolution of The Ukrainian Identity via The Diachronical Perspective of Conceptual Metaphor: Comprehensive Scope of Struggle For Sovereignty in War- And Peacetime. The dates and times for these two sessions have still not been confirmed.

As part of this initiative, FilmEU WP5 – People is continuing to promote professional development and the exchange of knowledge within the alliance, helping to generate new viewpoints on teaching, research and the various challenges now facing higher education and the creative industries.

Sign-up is currently open; anyone from the teaching staff, academic community, or administrative staff at the partner institutions of FilmEU is invited to take a look at the programme and sign up for the sessions which interest them.
