Future training sessions

Work Package 5 – People is hosting a new series of online training sessions aimed at teachers, academics, and staff across all partner institutions. Taking place in May, these one-hour professional development sessions will focus on sustainable and inclusive educational approaches, including the role of a sustainable humanitarian paradigm and artificial intelligence in commemorating the Russian-Ukrainian War, holistic models of healing education for rebuilding human capital in Ukraine, and experiences with implementing mandatory EDI training for students.

Developing a Sustainable Socio-Communicative Model of Commemorating the Russian-Ukrainian War Based on a Sustainable Humanitarian Paradigm and Artificial Intelligence

This workshop examines digital sovereignty in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine, focusing on how digital platforms shape content visibility, information circulation, and interpretations of war through algorithms. Participants will analyze the evolving roles of media and users in creating commemorative narratives, the blurring of boundaries between fact and narrative, and the impact of language on war perception. The session also introduces analytical approaches to evaluating the resilience of socio-communicative practices and highlights the importance of reconsidering the “cost of free” platforms to address manipulation risks and promote responsible digital behavior.

Participants will understand digital sovereignty as a multidimensional concept that includes not only data protection but also the shaping of collective memory in digital environments. They will explore how platform-based ecosystems influence information flows, war narratives, and user perceptions, and reflect on the risks and responsibilities associated with “free” digital services.

Training provider: Alla Yarova (Sumy State University)
Date: May 5th
Time: 13.00 - 14.00 CET

Development and rollout of mandatory EDI online training for students: Experiences from the IADT EDI Office

It will also outline how key academic actors within the Institute were identified and engaged to support the rollout, the software used, and the mechanisms put in place to gather student feedback and monitor impact.

Date: May 7th

Healing Education: A Holistic Model for Rebuilding Human Capital in Ukraine

This practical workshop introduces a holistic, resilience-based model of “healing education” for Ukraine as means for the recovery of human capital in war and post-war contexts. It explores how global approaches to trauma-informed education and empathy-driven teaching can be adapted to the needs of a society affected by war.

Participants will explore how trauma-informed practices and empathy-based pedagogy can be integrated into educational environments to enhance teachers’ and students’ psycho-emotional well-being.
