Stories From Isolation Winners Announced

The winners for the Stories From Isolation competition have been announced at a live online ceremony this week, attended by the Chair of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Una Power.

The Stories From Isolation is an internal competitive process for IADT students studying the Film & New Media undergrad programmes, providing the students an opportunity to capture their experiences of COVID-19 and lockdown over the past 14 months, from their point of view. The idea was to allow the students to present a unique personal response to these unprecedented times, as they perceived them.

An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Una Power commented after the final ceremony:

‘I would like to congratulate all the winners and commend all those who partook in this competition for the brilliant pieces they all produced. This is a wonderful competition and gave us an amazing insight into the challenges faced by people, particularly young people, during this pandemic. It was an honour and a pleasure to be part of this competition and I look forward to seeing further collaboration between dlr and IADT in the future.’

Over 100 submissions were entered into the competition and 22 films were shortlisted to go forward to a final adjudication. Of the 22 finalists, the following 5 films were selected for awards:

1st Place: ‘His Car’ by Mark Lynch – 1st year Film
