[Open Call for Papers] — IJFMA Vol. 13 N.º 1 (2028) "Electricity and Its Impact on Visual and Aural Culture from Modernity to Contemporary Times"

The call for papers is now open for a special issue of the International Journal of Film and Media Arts, guest-edited by Elena Cordero Hoyo (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos) and Nuria Cancela (Universitat Pompeu Fabra).

The scientific journal, promoted by FilmEU, fosters research and criticism in cinema, animation, television, video games, and media arts, providing relevant insights for both the academic and professional spheres of all partner institutions. This issue explores how electricity has transformed visual and aural culture, from the emergence of modernity in the late nineteenth century to the digital age and the rise of generative AI.

Contributions may address electricity in:

• Cinema, photography, and the performing arts;
• Film production and exhibition;
• Sound technologies;
• Representations of the body;
• Gender and social inequalities;
• Contemporary critical perspectives on electricity and AI.

Research based on original case studies from archives, museums, film libraries, and other collections is particularly encouraged.
