Lusófona collaborates with Orient Museum

Professors, students and researchers from the Film and Media Arts Department and CICANT from Lusófona University are producing the audiovisual contents that are part of the new permanent exhibition of the Orient Museum that will open its doors to the public on May 18th, 2023. With the theme Japan Festivities, the videos produced by Lusófona include an animated video inspired by the myth of the Sun Goddess Amaterasu and three short videos of the yokai Kappa, a popular Japanese folk character. This set of video contents also includes a recreation of a purification dance by Shinto priestesses (Miko Mai) and a recreation of the transformation of a snake-woman (Kiyohime), another popular Japanese folk character.

Among the testimonies collected for this new exhibition is a brief interview with the current ambassador of Japan in Portugal. The videos with testimonies have subtitled versions in Portuguese, English and Portuguese Sign Language. The general coordination of the audiovisual production is the responsibility of Célia Quico, while the animation videos were directed by Pedro Sousa and the live-action videos by Anastasiya Maksymchuk. The music and soundtrack for the videos are by João Alves. This special project also has the collaboration of José Neves, as a consultant in accessibility solutions. The production of the "live action" videos also has the participation of several students from the Master's Degree in Film Studies and PhD in Media Arts. This special project is part of the cooperation protocol signed in late 2022 between Lusófona University and Orient Museum.
