Tallinn University has awarded an honorary doctorate to Associate Professor Manuel José Carvalho Almeida Damásio of Lusófona University, with the decision made by the Senate in December 2024 and the title formally conferred on 28 November 2025.

As one of the key architects and leading forces behind FilmEU+, Damásio has played a central role in shaping the European Universities Alliance for Film and Media Arts, strengthening long-term collaboration between Europe’s leading film schools, including Tallinn University.

Reflecting on the recognition, he described it as both a personal honour and a powerful symbol of the European academic cooperation embodied by FilmEU+, highlighting the importance of building bridges between countries, institutions and disciplines through sustained partnership.
