FilmEU researcher published in peer-reviewed journal

Maarten Coegnarts, FilmEU researcher, has been published in the peer-reviewed journal [in]Trransitio – Journal of Videographic Film & Moving Image Studies. The video-essay “Embodied Visual Meaning [in] Motion” shows how filmmakers are communicators of meaning. Through their mastery of the cinematic form, they are able to transcend its merely reproductional quality by imposing on the parts a graphic order through which they convey the abstract thematic essence of their stories. Like all great artists they are able to tell us something about the human condition. The dynamic patterns, as revealed in this video-essay, illustrate only a section of the embodied chords through which they fulfill this expressive function.
