FilmEU Launches the FilmEU Observatory

FilmEU Launches the FilmEU Observatory: A New Hub for Policy Advocacy and Thought Leadership.

During the FilmEU Summit 2026 in Brussels, the FilmEU European University officially launched the FilmEU Observatory, a new platform designed to capture, showcase, and advance the Alliance's knowledge, advocacy, and critical reflections on the future of the arts, film, media, and higher education.

The FilmEU Observatory is conceived as more than a digital repository. It serves as a dynamic intellectual hub where the Alliance's educational, artistic, and advocacy activities come together, providing a curated space that reflects FilmEU's vision for innovation in audiovisual education and artistic practice. By bringing together the expertise of academics, researchers, artists, and practitioners across the Alliance, the Observatory reinforces the central role of the Alliance as a driver of policy guidelines and recommendations geared towards the arts education and research sectors, knowledge creation, innovation, and societal impact.

A key objective of the Observatory is to make FilmEU's collective expertise accessible to a wider audience, including policymakers, educators, researchers, students, and professionals working in the cultural and creative sectors. Through its growing collection of policy and innovation oriented publications, the platform highlights the Alliance's perspectives on the evolving challenges facing higher education, the audiovisual industries, and European society.

At launch, the Observatory features its first two publications, marking the beginning of a continuously expanding collection of resources. In the coming months, additional policy papers and position papers will be added, providing valuable insights into topics ranging from artistic research and innovation to sustainability, inclusion, digital transformation, and the future of storytelling.

By creating a dedicated space for dialogue, reflection, and knowledge exchange, the FilmEU Observatory strengthens the Alliance's commitment to shaping the future of audiovisual education and contributing to wider European discussions on culture, creativity, and innovation. As the platform grows, it will become a reference for anyone interested in the intersection of artistic practice, research, and higher education within the European University landscape.
