FilmEU AGORA Think Tank: Shaping the Future of AI in Film & Media

From March 10–14, LUCA School of Arts in Brussels became a hub of innovation as FilmEU’s AGORA Think Tank gathered 15 students and 8 academics for an intensive three-day workshop exploring the impact of AI in future jobs for film and media. The event was led by the Agora Chair Dr Alexander Gerner (Lusófona University).

Day 1: Kicked off with an interactive AI workshop with Dr Mohammed Cherbatji (IADT), participants explored AI’s benefits and challenges in the classroom. We then had a thought-provoking Presentation on AI and Ethics given by Dr. Thomas Bøgevald Bjørnsten (VIA).

Agora also examined how FilmEU institutions integrate AI into teaching and learning and many samples of this were shown.

Day 2: Students took the lead, reflecting on day one an AI’s influence. The group also engaged in a staff-student debate on its role in the industry. The afternoon focused on how to draft a position paper with insights from Dr. Dáithí Mac Síthigh (IADT).

Day 3: Looked ahead to AI’s long-term role in creative careers. Discussions centered on:

Analytical & design thinking in AI-driven industries, investment & infrastructure needed for AI adoption. Drafting the final position paper, setting the stage for FilmEU’s stance on AI’s future.

This groundbreaking workshop brought fresh perspectives, bold ideas, and a roadmap for AI in film and media.

Stay tuned for the official position paper!
