Stella Carneiro

Stella Carneiro is a Brazilian film director, writer and visual artist from Recife, Pernambuco who has worked on over thirty short-films, a few Brazilian features and television series for some of Brazil’s biggest film production companies such as Gullane, Paris Entertainment, TV Globo and REC Produtores. Stella has a degree in Film and Communication from FAAP/São Paulo, an M.A in Screenwriting through the Erasmus program Kino Eyes - The European Fiction Masters and is currently a PhD student at FILMEU in Universidade Lusófona, tutored by Inês Gil.
Stella’s last few years were spent as an assistant screenwriter for the 2nd season of the TV series Jailers, produced by TV Globo, and alongside director Marcelo Gomes’ for his feature film Joaquim, which premiered at Berlinale. Stella wrote a feature-film screenplay that was awarded Honorable Mention at the most prestigious screenplay festival in Latin America, FRAPA, located in Porto Alegre, while her short-films have been selected to the Baltic Pitching Forum 2020, the Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), Brussels Short Film Festival and many others around the world. Stella was also part of the Official Jury of the 14th Festa do Cinema Italiano in Lisbon.
