Linda King

Linda King is a historian, educator and broadcaster (television and radio) on design, visual culture and material culture as cultural history. She is currently Senior Lecturer in Design History and Visual Culture at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT), Dublin and IADT's ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts) representative. Her research is interdisciplinary in focus, typically combining historical, theoretical and practice-based concerns. Current research and teaching interests centre on the history of Irish design and graphic design, the role of women in design professionalisation, the visual culture of aviation and travel, regional and mid-century Modernisms, philanthropic architecture and the integration of theory and practice within tertiary education. These subjects are typically framed by discourses of national identity, post-colonialism and decolonisation.
