FilmEU invites you to the next international FilmEU Cineclub screening, which will take place online on 14.5.2026, and will be hosted by the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (FTF VŠMU). The event is open to students of FilmEU partner institutions.
Our guest will be Romanian director Tudor Cristian Jurgiu, screenwriter and lecturer at UNATC in Bucharest, whose work has long explored themes of emigration, alienation, and interpersonal relationships. His films have been presented at major international film festivals such as Berlinale, IFFR Rotterdam, and San Sebastián IFF.
The evening will open with his short graduation film Oli's Wedding (2009), followed by his latest feature On Our Own, which premiered at the 2026 Berlinale. The film is a sensitive coming-of-age drama about growing up without parents, searching for closeness, and forming identity. At the center of this quietly atmospheric story is fourteen-year-old Flavia, whose mother has left to work in Italy.
A live-streamed discussion with the director will follow the screening.
