Papp Istvan studied physics at the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he received his PhD. for researching applications of statistical physics models in the study of complex networks. He received a BSc. in General Physics and Informatics, in advanced data analysis methods for sleep electrophysiology. For his MSc., he worked on automated and semi-automated sleep spindle detection in electrophysiology. He was young research fellow for several times at the Institute for Advanced Studies Kőszeg. For six months he was ERASMUS SEE grant student at the University of Bergen.
Currently he is postdoctoral researcher at Wigner Research Centre for Physics, working on experimental realisation of his patented method in the field of laser driven fusion, hopefully bringing one step closer the future energy production.
When he is not doing physics he is the member of the Visszhang Choir in Cluj-Napoca, singing bass, touring Europe. He also played a paserby in the award-winning documentary Chuck Norris vs. Communism.
