Rebecca Roper

Rebecca is the current Head of Teaching and Learning in the Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, Ireland. She has lectured across Film, the Arts, Business and Humanities for over 20 years and is passionate about student success and the creation of empowering student experiences in Higher Education. She instigated and lead the nationally lauded ‘First Year Matters’ (FYM) programme in IADT (2013 - ongoing) and more recently the accompanying ‘Final Year Matters, Moving On’ programme (FYMMO – 2019 - ongoing). Her professional practice as a Casting Director in Film and Television both nationally and internationally inform her teaching practice. She has worked in casting with some of the world’s leading film directors, including Luc Besson, Christopher Nolan and Oliver Stone. Rebecca also works on the National Recognition of Prior Learning Project in Higher Education and is a member of AISHE, ECSB, Women in Film, Student Led Learning and the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Ireland.
